What is the Zine Project?
The Zine Project aims to distribute Zine street libraries in the local communities to
promote the love for zines and to inspire people to make their own publications.
Currently there are 3 active Zine Boxes installed in Newcastle, NSW.
A Zine library is a little outdoor box specifically designed by a local men shed to hold
the Zines. Zines are small circulations of self published works and are photocopied into physical prints.
They are often made out of only 1 sheet of paper making them very cost effective.
The Zine project is a celebration and acknowledgment of Newcastle's creative
and social communities and aims be a platform to share/show work with the
wider community.
It invites for collaboration, experimentation and playfulness, promotes community
spirit and inclusiveness and seeks to give a creative voice to people from all walks of life.
The project was generously funded by the City of Newcastle Quick Responds Grant 2022.
